A simple 2D shooter made while taking a game design class. This version is modified from the original in a few ways:

  • The player ship has been changed from the triangular gray ship of the template to a square-shaped dark magenta alien spaceship.
  • A space background has been added to the main menu screen.
  • The enemy explosion effect has had its duration decreased to better resemble an explosion rather than fireworks. The player explosion effect 's duration has not been altered, as knowing the location of the player's previous death could be useful during gameplay.
  • An "Enemies [Remaining]:" UI element has been added. It lists the number of enemies the player has defeated and the number of enemies the player must defeat in total to clear the stage.
  • The game's three stages have been altered to be higher-quality and more challenging:
    • The first stage is an introduction to the game, placing the player in a safe location amongst straight and diagonal shooters. This allows them to learn how the game works safely.
    • The second stage has an enemy shooting at the starting location, forcing the player to move. They will then have to track down the enemies in the stage using the trajectory of on-screen bullets. This stage also introduces homing enemies.
    • The third and final stage is a configuration of straight and diagonal shooters flanked by two large groups of homing enemies. If the player is quick and knows the controls well enough, they can shoot down all the enemies without moving or dying.

The MacOS build is untested, but should still work.
